Historic neighborhood – Tremont

Tremont is a small part of Cleveland Ohio that was originally part of Brooklyn township. Being one of the most oldest parts of Cleveland, Tremont holds a good amount of historical significance.

Initially, Tremont was the home of a sizable population of Germans and Ukrainians who came to work in the many manufacturing jobs available there, particularly the steel works. However, by the 1960’s the population was in steady decline following the decline in manufacturing jobs and the the presence of the great depression.

Since the 2000’s Tremont has undergone a steady phrase of revival and renewal. Due to its close proximity to downtown and the numerous amount of affordable accommodation, there has been a steady inflow of new residents of all backgrounds.
